[vimeo id="148303074"] Let me start off by wishing you a very Merry Christmas! It’s such a wonderful season full of fun with family and friends. The days leading up to it can be stressful as we do our last-minute Christmas shopping or get the house ready for guests. But there’s nothing quite like that moment when everyone is together on Christmas Day!
This time of year is a special time for most of the world. It’s amazing to think that the life and message of Jesus has transformed the entire globe. A child was born in probably the most humble circumstances who is also humanity’s greatest hope for an eternal relationship with God. It’s not that we ever deserved it. It’s because God’s love for us is so great that He wanted us to have salvation so that we might have relationship with Him.
One of the greatest qualities that amazes me most was Jesus’ humility. Here was God on earth and in the flesh! All-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. But the one person who deserved the greatest honor chose to serve and not be served. He chose to begin life in the humblest of circumstances, to live life as a servant to the world. I think he was setting the example for all of us to remember – that it’s not about us, but it’s about serving the people we have in our lives.
So let’s take time in this season to reflect on our many blessings. The family we have with us. The gifts that we have given and received. The good food and fellowship we are enjoying. All of these are blessings we have been given even though we never deserved them. Let’s also remember those who know nothing about God’s wonderful gift in His Son. May this season be a time when we are intentional about sharing this Good News and living it out each and every day in our lives. Let us be committed to be servants to those around us and a reflection of God’s indescribable love!
So from here in Lakeland, Florida –– Merry Christmas!
