Dr. Kent Ingle has served as the president of Southeastern University (SEU) in Lakeland, Florida, since 2011. Under his leadership the university has taken tremendous strides. In the fall of 2016, SEU brought in its largest freshman cohort in its history and witnessed the largest enrollment since its founding in 1935. In addition, SEU has experienced record-breaking enrollment each year since 2014. The university has grown from 2,546 students in 2011 to over 5,800 students in 2016.
During Dr. Ingle’s tenure, SEU has seen significant growth in the on-campus athletic facilities. In the fall of 2014 SEU launched the first season of Fire Football in their newly completed state-of-the-art football stadium with 3,500 seats. Since then, the SEU Fire Football team has been back to back conference champions in 2015 and 2016, earning a bid to the national tournament in 2016. The Student Activities Center (SAC) was expanded with the addition of a wrestling facility. SEU’s wrestling team is the first wrestling team in nearly 30 years to compete at the college level in Florida.
In addition, construction has been completed on a building to house the College of Health and Natural Sciences, which includes nursing simulation labs with realistic patient simulators. In the fall of 2016, a 140,000-square-foot Live/Learn facility, known as “Buena Vida,” was completed to house student dorms, classrooms, offices and a food court. SEU has successfully added dozens of new academic and athletic programs, including two doctoral degree programs. Dr. Ingle has a sincere heart for helping students discover and develop their divine design. He is passionate about educating and preparing students for Christ-centered leadership and service. The SEU faculty and staff are excited about the university’s continued academic and spiritual growth under his leadership.
