When God moves through someone’s life, it never stops with them. His power always flows outward, touching lives, changing environments, and inspiring faith in others. That’s the ripple effect. And it begins the moment we choose to step aside and let God work fully in and through us.
We see this pattern all throughout Scripture. In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit filled the disciples in the upper room. That moment didn’t end with them speaking in tongues or feeling spiritually refreshed. It overflowed into the streets of Jerusalem, where thousands heard the Gospel in their own languages and gave their lives to Christ. One moment of unleashed power sparked a movement that is still transforming lives today.
The same is true for us. When we allow God to unleash His power in our lives, we become part of something much bigger than ourselves. Our obedience and courage can inspire someone else’s faith. Our generosity can meet needs we never knew existed. Our leadership can open doors for others to step into their calling. What God does in you is always meant to flow through you.
Three Ways the Ripple Effect Works
1. It multiplies faith
Bold faith is contagious. When others see you trust God with something impossible, it encourages them to take steps they have been afraid to take. Your story becomes evidence that God is still moving, still providing, and still fulfilling His promises. One person’s obedience can unlock a wave of courage in a whole community.
2. It meets needs you didn’t plan for
Sometimes, we unleash God’s power in one area, and He uses it to provide in another. Just like the boy’s small lunch in John 6 fed thousands, what you surrender to God can multiply beyond what you can see. You might offer your skills, your time, your leadership, or your resources in one way, but God will use it to meet needs you never expected.
3. It builds Kingdom legacy
The ripple effect is not just about immediate results. It’s about setting things in motion that will outlast you. The seeds you plant today through faith, service, and generosity can bear fruit for years, sometimes in the lives of people you will never meet. This is how Kingdom impact works: it grows, multiplies, and continues.
When you allow God to work in you, you become a vessel of His presence to the world around you. People are drawn to the hope you carry. Situations shift because His power is active in your life. The ripple starts with a simple yes to God’s leading, and it keeps moving outward until lives are changed and eternity is impacted.
As we live out this year’s word, Unleash, remember this truth: the work God wants to do in you is inseparable from the work He wants to do through you. You were never meant to be a reservoir of God’s blessings. You were designed to be a river that carries His power, love, and truth into every place you go. The ripple begins when you choose to release what God has placed inside you and trust Him to use it for His glory.
